Introduction
'Scarlett' was a horror film opening that I constructed. Its a slasher about a phys co doll who possess and slowly murders a group of teenagers who think she is just a rumor. The theme representation is shown in this film opening.This is because representation is the idea of stereotypes of specific identities and a meaning of a specific target audience. Representation is featured in all the media that is constructed and are created for people to relate or aspire to. The three main representations shown in my horror film opening were: gender, class and place.
The representation of a female in a horror film opening is that the woman is always stereotypical the victim who is seen as very vulnerable and weak.I have seen these representations in horror film openings that already exist for example Chucky, Sinister and Cabin in the woods.In my own construction this representation was conformed to an extent and challenged. This is because the teenager 'Riley' was seen diegetically screaming and being isolated from her social group exposing her weakness. However the main protagonist Scarlett the doll was chosen to be a female. This is because this also challenges this aspect of women being the sterotypical vicitms as she is represented to be very strong minded and powerful throuh
