The representation of women in the media is represented as objectification this is because this is what gets the media institutions the most views. This is shown by what the women in the media are dressed like, the camera shots that scan their bodies and the way other roles in the media treat women. The reason why it is important to study and analyse the representation of women is so that as consumers we can realise how different the media is to the real world. The theorist Jean Baudrillard says that media is best known for the Hyper-reality theory which has blurred lines between the real and fictional for example Disney world exists in the real world but is fictional. For example the tv series 'I want to marry Harry' is a show where women are looking for love. At the start of the first episode a women says 'Im looking for a happy ending' this shows that this woman already believes that the media is real as 'Disney' are very controversial and always end with a prince and princess living happily ever after. As this is a reality tv series the women has proved that the stereotype of women being objectification is true as she doesn't care about achieving high grades and becoming a successful business women she only is caring about falling love. Furthermore this tv series also has gone through mediation as the women are only seen in bikinis and dancing which can come across very seductive.
